Care for Your Jewelry
At JewelbySunaina, we carefully select materials to ensure the best quality possible. Jewelry by nature is delicate and needs to be cared for appropriately. However, here are a few recommendations to ensure that your jewelry will last forever.
As a general rule, avoid substances such as perfume & other chemicals when wearing jewelry, to prevent discoloration.
For easier reference, we have listed the metal quality of each piece on all product pages. Please refer to the product page you purchased to determine the metal.
Silver jewelry will naturally tarnish over time. Tarnishing is not a fault and steps can be taken to ensure your jewelry does not tarnish. To keep your jewelry looking shiny and tarnish-free, use a soft lint free cloth to clean silver, 18ct gold and rose gold vermeil will. Ideally, store your pieces in a dark, cool and dry place within an air tight box to help reduce tarnishing, scratching and tangling.
Do not wear your 925 sterling silver in water. Avoid contact with lotions, perfumes, oils, and sweat. These chemicals can dull your pieces and reduce their shine or cause the gold to wear away, changing the color of your jewelry to more silver than gold.
Silver is a bendable precious metal and any pressure applied could cause damage. Therefore, we advise when traveling with your jewelry, carry in a box so no external pressures are accidentally applied.
Gold plated silver may fade if the care instructions are not adhered to. Do not expose gold plated silver to water, perfumes or lotions as this may cause the plating to fade. Gold plated silver may naturally fade over time. Do not wear your gold plated jewelry in water.
Some of our gold plated jewelry is now made with a stainless steel base rather than brass. Gold plated steel still needs minor care, and we recommend removing it before showering or swimming to preserve its shine.
Gold filled jewelry often requires very low maintenance. Gold fill pieces are more durable than plating or vermeil but will still need some care over time. You can clean your items with a wet cloth, gentle toothbrush, and ordinary soap. Do not use rough-surfaced cleaning pads.
Though our gold filled pieces are durable, we do not recommend them coming in direct contact with lotions, oils, perfumes, or ocean/pool water. This can dull your pieces and reduce their shine. After removing your jewelry, run a clean dry cloth over each piece to remove the day.
Gemstones should never be worn around hot water, harsh chemicals and cleaners. You can clean most gemstones with a soft, damp cloth after wearing. Very porous stones such as turquoise and emeralds should be cleaned using an untreated, dry, soft cloth only. Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean as they can cause scratching.
